Plant Life

There's a lot of plant life in the Deciduous Forests. Many ferns, mosses, orchids, lillies, and vines. The soil is very rich too. Here are some examples of some specific plants that are common there:

American Beech Tree

The American Beech tree can grow up to 90-100 feet tall and its branches and roots can spread from 50-70 ft. wide. This type of tree has a shallow root system because to roots need to spread out so it can get the most moisture from the soil as possible. Many animals like to eat its nuts.

The lady fern can grow easily in many different places. It can even grow in cracks of rocks. Grizzly bears and Elk like to eat them. In these forests, there's plenty of shade for them to grow in.

These fungi help break down the dead organisms on the forest floor. Insects are attracted to their strong fish-like smell especially when they are dried out. Many animals like to eat them. They are very rich in nutrients.
